With the Transformers brand celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2014, hardcore Autobot and Decepticon fans may want more than just the fourth film in the franchise.

For those fans, author Matthew Reinhart has the answer: Transformers: The Ultimate Pop-Up Universe, a book featuring iconic characters from the line that not only — you guessed it — pop up, but are able to change into their Earth-bound counterparts with the pull of a tab. Reinhart, a fan of the toys since their introduction in 1984, engineered the intricate pieces in his spreads, depicting Autobots and Decepticons, as well as their home world of Cybertron. All in all, the handy writer crafted more than 50 robots, will all of the pop-ups capable of changing forms.

That said, the book isn’t just a collection of cool pop-ups. Reinhart penned an elaborate arc about the characters, with battles between Autobot and Decepticon forces, along with cameo appearances by classic villains in the Transformers universe.

The book is on sale now, and Reinhart shared an exclusive time-lapse video of his work with EW, showing how he plans, folds, and ultimately puts together his paper creations. Check it out below.
