The debut issue of DC’s new series Batman: The Dark Knight left the Caped Crusader staring into the face of his old enemy Two-Face, who has apparently been rocking the Barry Bonds diet, judging by his new mega-muscles. (Ol’ Harvey Dent also noted that he’d prefer to be called “One-Face” from now on. Hey, he’s self-actualizing!) Next week’s B:TDK #2 kicks off with an extended fight between Batman and his supersized nemesis. Blood flows freely, but so does some attack philosophy. “Think how it would feel to lose all inhibition — to shed every shred of doubt!” exclaims One-Face. Suffice it to say that crying is involved.

Enjoyed the first issue and looking forward to issue #2. DC has done a great job of re-introducing classic characters to contemporary comic readers. Maybe I’m getting old; it seems a bit extreme to me, all of the over-muscled, graphic look of comics now. P.S. Agree with “Jeff” — the people who use this forum to attack each other or posts “dating services” really detract from the intention of this feature. EW, perhaps hire an intern that can delete all of these posts here and elsewhere on your site.
Darren! You should do a write-up of Batman Odyssey. Hands down the most (unintentionally?) weird Batman comic out there.
I just read the first issue of Batman Odyssey yesterday, and I agree with you, that IS the most weird Batman comic out there!
Damn, that splash image, those don’t look like veins popping out, they look like strings or tubes or snakes stuck to his skin. Isn’t it funny how whenever they revamp a male villain, they give him huge muscles and ramp up the scary factor. but when it’s time to revamp a female villain, all they do is have her wear a skimpier costume and ramp up the sex-appeal. Ugh
So was Bane actually Harvey Dent in a wresling mask all along?!?!
The real focus should be on Batman’s real relaunch by writer Scott Snider, author of American Vampire–this kid is the real deal.
