Singer-songwriter Josh Ritter has added on another hyphenate, that of author, with the release of his debut novel Bright’s Passage. The talented 34-year-old has gathered some pretty recognizable friends over the course of his years as a musician, a few of whom he asked to join himself and family members in a collaborative reading of the book’s first chapter. Check out the video below to see folks like Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Mary-Louise Parker, and enough musicians to fill an orchestra, doing their best dramatic oration.
Josh Ritter is amazing. He’s that “so-talented-you-wish-everyone-knew-who-he-was-but-are-secretly-glad-they-don’t-because-he’s-still-yours” kind of talented.

if you look at Rainn (~3:30) the title on the cover is reversed… some of the videos must be mirrored…

Josh, it’s great to hear all these other voices reading words that you have arranged. What lots of people don’t realize is that once you’ve written something, it becomes theirs as much as yours–and this way of presenting your work makes that perfectly clear. A standing ovation, Josh! It was also cool to meet some of your friends and your mother, your father and your brother (and your nephew). May you continue to move people’s hearts and minds, because you’re certainly one of the guys!
