I’m excited to see what the characters are up to now, the last Sweet Valley book I read was the Senior Year series, which came out around the time I was in my final years of high school. I’m excited about a movie, and I’m surprised there hasn’t been one before. But Diablo Cody? Out of all the filmmakers? (I’m not a fan of her work) Does anyone else remember the mid 90s Sweet Valley TV series? That was my 90210 lol

Oh and while on the subject of awful SVU books, does anyone remember the one where Elizabeth goes to England and becomes a nanny? That series was short lived, and rightfully so

It was never meant to be a long series (and she became a scullery maid, not a nanny.) It was an intended 6 part mini series to close out the college years. And I loved them.

I’ve been a fan of the Sweet Valley series for years and so was very excited by the new book. I’ve just finished Sweet Valley Confidential and I have to agree, the writing is not too hot. I was a little disappointed by that aspect.

However I am a self-confessed sequel junky and I loved the story. To find out what was happening to everyone ten years later was fantastic. I hope she considers another story. I’d love to see if Liz stays with Bruce and if any of them have kids and so on.

Ok just finished the book. If they were in high school in the eighties wouldn’t they be in their late 30′s? It was terribly written but I enjoyed it because it brought back memories of reading the series when I was younger.

Having been a fan of the series since I was 8 and having watched the show as a pre-teen I can safely say that I’m a die hard fan of the franchise. That said, I just want to point out that ALL of the books say one of two things: “Francine Pascal’s…” or “Created by Francine Pascal”. And then the author of the story is listed. I’ve know from the first time I picked up a Sweet Valley book that she didn’t herself write the books. IDK why people are up in arms like it’s news. Had any of you bothered to pay attention to what’s staring you in the face, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Furthermore; she’s NOT a fraud. What she’s done is no different than what the creator of a tv show does when he or she hires a staff of writers. I don’t mean to sound like a complete fan girl, but my god, there are so many haters out there. Just get over it!

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.

I loved reading The Babysitter s Club , and Sweet Valley High grinowg up. My local library would have a summer reading program where you could check out I think 10 books for the whole summer. I think I used to own some as well. Will I be reading the new book, I am not sure but I do miss those books.
