Exclusive: Stephenie Meyer's 'The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide' to go on sale April 12, 2011

twilight-illustrated-guide_216.jpg The bad news: It’s not another sequel.

The good news: There will be plenty of brand-new details in The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, a reference book Stephenie Meyer created to accompany her best-selling novels. According to a press release from Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, the $24.99 encyclopedia, which will go on sale April 12, 2011, includes “character profiles, outtakes, a conversation with Meyer, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references, and much more,” including art by Young Kim, who illustrated Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Volume 1.

For her part, Meyer said, “I’m always amazed at how many in-depth questions my readers have about my characters and the world within the Twilight Saga. With The Official Illustrated Guide, I hoped we could incorporate as many details as possible, including character histories, like Alice’s back story.”

Let’s hear from Twilight fans–is this something you want for your collection?

I think you confused the good with the bad news.

    • Summer

      This. Yes.

Really? A book is bad news? 3 pages of people b!tching about a book being released that they don’t want. Come on.
It’s not something I would buy, but I can see it being a fun thing for the younger set – and, of course, this will be a nice boost for business at the for the junior high book fair.

Okay….I’m a fan of the Twilight Saga but that doesn’t mean I jump for joy when I find out that she’s coming out with ANOTHER companion to the series…

I was hoping that Midnight Sun was finally being released

    • StewyFan

I would have to agree. This is ridiculous and a useless waste of her time. At least I can slightly understand the Bree Tanner Novella, but this? WTF.
      Stephenie, finish MS already!

      • Pam

I AGREE!!!! Have been waiting for MS forever!!! Please give your fans what they want!!!!!!!

    • ani

exactly what i was thinking. forget this additional guide/backstory crap. let’s face it, most of the characters are not intersting enough to even merit this book.

midnight sun, however, actually was interesting (or at least, the first half was..). it showed that Edward actually had a personality, sigh, until Bella came along.

    • Karate Pants

Unfortunately, Midnight Sun is probably never going to happen. Such a shame, I so enjoyed the darker, edgier, more dangerous side of the story.
Any of you read that Bree tanner mess? I couldn’t get beyond the first 25 pages.

    • Jesss

Yes, she needs to finish Midnight Sun!!

  • MCS

    Money grab?

  • Mal

Oh wow, only a year and a half after the release date printed in the back of every single copy of Breaking Dawn.

    • Becca

My thoughts exactly!! This guide was supposed to be out December 2008 (which is what is printed in the back of my copy of Breaking Dawn), and now the supposed release for April 2011???? I will believe it when I see it.. And I also thought it would be Midnight Sun… Come on Stephenie Meyer! Get a move on already!!!!

  • Kari

Meyer should try something new and let Twilight go. I’ve read all four books, and it’s not like there’s enough traction there to need a guide to get through them!

    • D

She is working on something besides Twilight. Read the Host and you will be ready when the sequel comes out.

  • Bill

You keep riding that gravy train, big girl.

  • Nemo

  • Danielle

    Great news!

  • Katie

So who wants to bet that this is a cynical ploy to keep the series in the news so people don’t forget about it before next November?

  • Leah

I think she needs to step away from twilight for a while and finish “The Host” series i love it so much better than Twilight… probably because there is no huge craze for it…

  • Rach

If the people ask for it, then go for it. That’s not a money grab.

  • ashley

they said this official guide would come out back in 2008. so it’s nothing new. finally glad it’s getting a released date

  • Sue

Love “The Host” and just release “Midnight Sun” already!

  • kym cruddas

finally!!! lets hope she doesnt change the release date ,yet again.
