The Situation to write a book: Somebody prep the Pulitzer!

the-situationImage Credit: Jason Merritt/Getty ImagesHemingway. Faulkner. The Situation. What do these three have in common? Well, pretty soon all of them will have written a book. The New York Post reports that the abs-olutely abs-urd star of MTV’s STD-turned-television series Jersey Shore has secured a deal with Gotham Books to write Here’s the Situation, a work of nonfiction set to come out this November. The Sitch told EW’s Tim Stack that it will be “a tell-all book. Sorta like how I came about and everything like that.” The reality figure also mentioned that someone is helping him with the writing, which I’m guessing will help make the text at least somewhat comprehensible. That is, as long as the ghostwriter isn’t Pauly D.

What do you think, Shelf-Lifers? Would you be willing to pay money for a book by The Situation? More importantly, would you be willing to be seen paying money for it?

Does anyone who watches this show even know how to read?

    • *sigh* hey, my ew.com name is … and i watch jersey shore. i just got my bachelor’s in criminology and am currently reading rooftops in tehran by mahbod seraji. they have at least one literate fan.

      • Snookie

Who apparently owns neither a CAPS key nor a quotation marks key.

      • Koubou

@ Snookie so what? it’s a comment on EW not a term paper

    • julia

      lol isnt that the truth

  • Dave

Who is honestly attracted to this guy because of his abs? Look at them! They don’t look normal at all. It looks like a lumpy couch. Are they implants? Ick.
And if even one copy of his “book” sells, then I will lose all faith in humanity.

    • whatevs

Your first sentence having ended after “guy” would also be a legitimate query.

      • Dave

LOL! I actually thought that too, but I mainly wanted to point out how disgusting his abs look in that picture.

    • cameobrooch

Seriously. How did this guy become the poster child for great abs?

  • Jennifer

I’m really disappointed that ew created this “Shelf Life” blog and 99% of the posts are about books written by reality stars. I know it’s pop culture, but still…

    • Jennifer

Ok, maybe not 99%. But it seems the posts about The Situation, Kendra, Sarah Palin, people from “The Hills,” etc. are pretty dominant. And they’re certainly the ones that make the front page of the website

      • whatevs

You can hate Sarah Palin as most people do, but a politician certainly is in more of a position to write a book.

      • Koubou

because they get the most comments and probably page views

  • Joe

So…publishers accept manuscripts written in crayon now?

  • Vince from NYC

I watch the show and know people who do but I cannot imagine anybody who would read a book by this dude unless it was a workout book. Maybe a slef help guide to be a guido. Wait no, The Guido Guide! Wow I’m brilliant I deserve millions of dollars a Tv show, a record lable and a book deal..

  • BeBe

Are you kiddin me? The saddest part is that people will probably buy this book…

  • nikki

*sigh* What is our world coming to?

    • wiggins

its seams he is the ho

  • Terry

I commented on another post about EW not running a picture of James Gammon on his obit. But they can run another picture of this idiot, doing the only thing he seems to be able to do. Really people, it only takes a few million people watching to be a hit on a cable show, which means about another 250 million don’t care about this guy. So why all the hype about these guys?

  • WTF

    I hate this fuc*ing culture.

  • paige

While the whole show is absolutely ridiculous, I have to say that I think “The Situation” is mostly a front. I think he knew that he would have to be outrageous to make the whole thing a big deal. He was just squeezing it for all that it was worth.
But my point is that I think he is a lot more intelligent than he let’s on. If you pay close attention you can see that at times he is very articulate, polite, etc. etc.

    • paige

So I think that it may have a slight layer of sense about it. Nothing that could make me buy it, but I believe it would be written well enough to read and comprehend.

  • Leslee

I would buy his used rubbers but Nursedating was better

  • Adam

Twain. Poe. Fitzgerald. Irving. Vonnegut. “The Situation.”

  • dee123

More like someone prepare the crayons!

  • Lauren M

This is equally as depressing as the oil spill.

  • Chrissy Wright

I like the jersey shore because they are to goofy and mad and stupid.
