'The things you don't want to admit you feel': Scott Snyder previews 'Wytches' #3-exclusive

Over the past five years, Scott Snyder has quickly become one of the most popular writers in mainstream comics—largely due to his stellar, chart-topping run on Batman. But in his creator-owned work, Snyder has displayed a knack for gripping horror stories that double as explorations of very real and relatable anxieties and concerns. It’s horror steeped in humanity.

In Wytches, the Image Comics series Snyder co-created with the superstar art team of Jock and Matt Hollingsworth, the writer isn’t just completely reinventing witches—through the story of the Rook family’s dealings with the titular monsters, he’s diving deep into very real fears about being a parent, and the ugliness that hides in all of us.

Read an excerpt from 'WYTCHES,' a new series by 'Batman' writer Scott Snyder

This October, Scott Snyder—the New York Times bestselling author of American Vampire—returns to Image Comics to reinvent another classic horror figure: witches.

After working with artist Jock (The Losers, Green Arrow: Year One) on the Batman story “The Black Mirror,” Snyder knew he had the perfect collaborator for this new horror series. The artist’s distinct style—a mix of solid storytelling and terrifyingly scratchy visuals—will no doubt scare readers silly. READ FULL STORY

Superman’s looming 2013 pop moment is getting super-sized. DC Entertainment announced today that it will launch a new comic book series next year devoted to the superhero icon from the superstar creative team of Scott Snyder (Batman, Swamp Thing) and Jim Lee (Justice League). Many details are still TBD, including title, release date and if the comic will launch before or after the June 14, 2013 bow of Man of Steel, director Zack Snyder’s reboot of the Superman movie franchise starring Henry Cavill and Amy Adams.

In an interview with EW, Scott Snyder said he’s been developing the Superman story he wants to tell in the new series for over a year. “I knew it would have an epic scope and look at him in a different way, even though it will have a classic element to it, too,” says the scribe, who grew up a Superman fan, and claims to have embarrassing childhood photos of him dressed as the Man of Steel to prove it.
