Chris Colfer reveals 'Enchantress Returns' audio excerpt, tour dates -- EXCLUSIVE

Following the death of Glee cast member Cory Monteith, his co-stars have been paying respects and getting on with filming new episodes. Glee‘s Chris Colfer has delayed promotion on his second novel The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns after the tragedy, but is now gearing up to meet his fans across the country again.

Alex and Conner Bailey have not been back to the magical Land of Stories since their adventures in The Wishing Spell ended. But one night, they learn the famed Enchantress has kidnapped their mother. Against the will of their grandmother (the one and only Fairy Godmother), the twins must find their own way into the Land of Stories to rescue their mother and save the fairy tale world from the greatest threat it’s ever faced.

'Glee' star Chris Colfer reveals title, date, and cover of second 'Land of Stories' book -- EXCLUSIVE

Chris Colfer is used to being No. 1 on the iTunes chart as part of the Glee cast, and he shot to the top of the New York Times best-seller list with his first novel, The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell. EW has learned exclusively that Book 2 will be called The Enchantress Returns, coming to you Aug. 6, and will feature the evil Enchantress who cursed Sleeping Beauty, who is back with a vengeance.

Chris Colfer is a busy man. Between making movies and playing Kurt Hummel on Glee, it’s a wonder he’s found any time at all to pursue a writing career. And yet, the 22-year-old is getting ready to release his second novel of the year next week.

Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal follows Carson Phillips, a high school outcast who blackmails his peers into participating in his literary magazine. It’s already been filmed as a movie starring Christina Hendricks, Rebel Wilson and Colfer himself. Though the film won’t be out until next year, the book hits shelves on Nov. 20. Colfer took the time to talk to EW about his first young adult novel, his own high school experiences and that one time he dabbled in extortion himself. Chris Colfer to release his first young-adult novel 'Struck by Lightning'

After the success of his best-selling middle-grade novel The Land of Stories, Glee star Chris Colfer will be publishing his first young-adult novel on Nov. 20. The upcoming novel, titled Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal, will be a book adaptation of his movie by the same name, which will be released by Tribeca Film later this year. Glee star Chris Colfer has been on sold-out arena tours before, but come July, he’ll be embarking on a different kind of tour altogether. To promote his upcoming children’s book The Land of Stories (July 17), he’ll be giving book signings across the country, mostly in the New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco areas, as well as in Kurt Hummel’s home state of Ohio.

Described as a “modern-day fairy tale,” the book will focus on twins Alex and Conner, who leave the real world behind and find themselves in a land where they come face-to-face with the fairy-tale characters — witches, goblins, trolls — they’ve always read about.
