Known for his role as bears, beets, and Battlestar Galactica enthusiast Dwight Schrute, Rainn Wilson is ready to tell his own story. The former Office star has sold his memoir rights to Dutton, with a release scheduled for fall 2014.
In addition to his Emmy-nominated performance on the recently wrapped NBC comedy, Wilson is known for his work in indie films such as Super and Juno as well as his popular Twitter feed, which boasts over 3.6 million followers. He’s also the founder of philosophy site SoulPancake and author of a SoulPancake book.
Wilson, reluctant to call his book a “memoir,” remarked, “If I were in my eighties, had cured a disease and survived a war, I would be entitled to write a memoir. No. The guy who is best known for playing a paper salesman with a bad haircut, tweeting fart jokes and starting a quirky spirituality website does not merit a ‘memoir.’ For the time being, let’s call it a Serio-Comic Examination of my Life in Art, Faith and Comedy. And beets.”
