After rumors started swirling that Jason Collins, the NBA player who came out as being gay just last week, was looking to publishers for a potential book deal, Collins took to Twitter to quiet the rumblings. Collins tweeted, “Contrary to Sportscenter reports, I have no current plans to write any books. Sorry to disappoint my literary loving fans.”

In addition to Collins’ tweet, AP reports that Arn Tellem, Collins’ agent, released a statement on Monday night saying: “As you can imagine, we’ve been inundated with all kinds of requests and various opportunities, but as of now have not had any discussions on behalf of Jason regarding a potential book deal because Jason has yet to decide if he wants to write a book. Right now my focus is preparing for Jason’s upcoming free agency and securing the best opportunity for him to continue his career.”

Collins’ focus also seems to be on his basketball career, as he ended his tweet with “#GoingToTheGym.” However, neither Collins nor his agent denied the possibility of a future book deal for the professional athlete, who has been asked to headline the Democratic National Committee’s annual lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender gala on May 29. Perhaps once Collins straightens out his “upcoming free agency,” he will have time to write a book? As Tellem put it, “Jason has yet to decide.” And as Collins’ tweeted, he has no “current plans.”
