Superman gets picketed! Sneak peak at 'Action Comics' #3 -- EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW

Many superhero fans rolled their eyes when DC Comics announced it was going to give Superman a youth culture makeover — edgier attitude; blue jeans instead of tights — in order to make the icon more relevant. But with writer Grant Morrison at the helm, Action Comics has emerged as one of the best books in the publisher’s ‘New 52′ line.

The third issue — which hits comic book stores on November 2  — shows what happens when the citizens of Metropolis get fed up with their self-appointed protector. (#OccupyMetropolis!) And as this exclusive preview shows, the story also offers a sense of what life was like on Post-Flashpoint Krypton. The art team: Rags Morales, Brent Anderson, Rick Bryant.

This is the title I’m probably least thrilled with. he’s just become a poster child for leftitst propoganda under Morrison so far.

“Leftist propaganda?” You do realize that in his early years of publication, Superman was on the run from the cops, went after corrupt businessmen, landlords, mine owners…and was a social crusader uninterested in preserving the status quo for the filthy rich?

Basically, Superman has returned to his original form. Thank god.

What you fail to understand though is that it WAS legal to drag people out in the streets without a warrant back in the 30’s. We didn’t read people Miranda rights. Police brutality was acceptable back then. It was also acceptable to beat black people and treat women as property. That’s my issue with this whole concept of “returning to the Golden Age.” The Golden Age was written in a culture that was corrupt and sexist. Why would we encourage that or glamorize it?

It’s a good book. I didn’t see any left wing prop in it. Plus a young Superman gets the electric chair in second issue and (as you can well imagine) wackiness insues.
