Bravo executive vice president and Real Housewife wrangler Andy Cohen has signed a book deal with publisher Henry Holt to release a memoir in the summer of 2012, a rep for Cohen confirms.

The coming-of-age book will detail Cohen’s journey from closeted teen in St. Louis to high-level executive and television personality, and it will also explore the Watch What Happens Live host’s extensive pop culture knowledge/obsession, which is clearly on display for anyone who’s ever turned into the chatfest.

'Super 8's Joel Courtney stars in trailer for 'Ashtown Burials I: The Dragon's Tooth' -- EXCLUSIVE

Joel Courtney, the promising young star of Super 8, is featured in a brand new, action-filled trailer, but this clip isn’t for the next big Hollywood blockbuster. It’s for a book.

N.D. Wilson, author of the popular young-adult 100 Cupboards trilogy, asked his hometown friend for a little help to launch his next book, the first in a projected five-part series titled Ashtown Burial #1: The Dragon’s Tooth (out Aug. 23). Both Wilson and Courtney hail from Moscow, Idaho (Courtney currently goes to school with the author’s kids), which provided the inspiration for The Dragon’s Tooth’s blue-collar Americana setting. When it came time to make a promotional trailer — which Wilson himself wrote, produced and directed — Courtney was an ideal and convenient choice to star. In the exclusive video preview, Courtney plays Cyrus, a wayward and rebellious boy who joins a fantastical group of explorers in adventures far beyond the run-down motel he and his sister, Antigone, call home.

Check out a cinematic first look at Ashtown Burials #1: The Dragon’s Tooth and a Q&A with N.D. Wilson below.

No fourth Millennium novel, says Stieg Larsson's partner

Stieg Larsson’s partner of 32 years shot down rumors that the Millennium trilogy author left behind a fourth novel when he died of a heart attack in 2004. Eva Gabrielsson told BBC Radio’s Woman Hour that what was discovered on Larsson’s laptop was merely 200 pages that represented merely “the beginning of a fourth novel … It probably doesn’t hang together. Stieg was a spontaneous writer, he could write scenes and not knit them together until later on — he just liked the scene. You can’t call it a novel.”

You can listen to Gabrielsson’s entire interview here.

On the Books August 2: Stan Barstow passes away and Half Price Books lends a helping second-hand

++Stan Barstow, the British author known primarily for his tough, realistic portraits of post-war, middle-class life in England, died yesterday at the age of 83. The Guardian‘s obituary takes a look at Barstow’s life and works and his impact on British literature.

++It’s nice to see a little book store camaraderie. According to the L.A. Times blog, a company rep from Half Price Books posted a note on a site for the unfortunate, soon-to-be former Borders employees, welcoming them to work at their stores. “I wanted to let you know that Half Price Books would like to encourage Borders employees to apply at our stores,” the rep wrote. Doesn’t that just make you feel all bubbly inside?

++In other fledgling bookstore news, there is a rumor floating around of a potential Apple takeover of Barnes and Noble. According to an “unproven source,” the tech giant plans to buy the country’s biggest book retailer and incorporate its ebook market into Apple’s already established iBookstore. The purchase would do away with Barnes and Noble’s Nook e-reader and see the addition of Apple stores to the already standing Barnes and Noble locations.

See the trailer for 'The Power of Six,' the sequel to 'I Am Number Four' -- EXCLUSIVE

Last year, everyone was eager, eager, eager for I Am Number Four to become the NBT (short for Next Big Twilight). Not only was the first book in the alien-in-high-school series released with much fanfare, but it was adapted immediately into a film starring Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron. There’s no indication whether a Hollywood version is in the works for the sequel, The Power of Six, but the book is definitely set to hit stores on Aug. 23 and, like the first, it is written by Pittacus Lore, the nom d’espace of writer Jobie Hughes and Oprah hatchet-burier James Frey. Here’s the trailer: READ FULL STORY »
