Bravo exec Andy Cohen to release memoir in 2012

Bravo executive vice president and Real Housewife wrangler Andy Cohen has signed a book deal with publisher Henry Holt to release a memoir in the summer of 2012, a rep for Cohen confirms.

The coming-of-age book will detail Cohen’s journey from closeted teen in St. Louis to high-level executive and television personality, and it will also explore the Watch What Happens Live host’s extensive pop culture knowledge/obsession, which is clearly on display for anyone who’s ever turned into the chatfest.

Are you excited for Cohen’s memoir?

Love me some Andy Cohen so YES would definitely read his memoir.

Yes! Love me some Andy! I think he makes a great role model— for ANY young kid growing up, regardless of gender or sexuality. He loves and respects his parents– they have a great relationship and he often goes on “dates” with them , to make time for them in his busy schedule. It’s hard to find anyone in entertainment with their priorities right!

    • Ron

So it’s cool that this vapid egomaniac’s “priorities” consist of little more than creating an entire network dedicated to making intellectually and morally bankrupt rich people even more wealthy while simultaneously finding new ways to insert himself in starring roles. As long as he likes his parents, he’s a “role model.” Wow, that’s setting the bar pretty low. I’m gay, have been in the TV business for two decades, run my own company now and talk to my mother almost every night and always have time for my sister, father and friends. I’m also in good company in my line of work. Not only am I reluctant to consider myself a role model, I am personally horrified and embarrassed by the train wreck that is BRAVO by COHEN.

Gee… someone needs to take their Valium and go to bed. Jealous much!

  • jdub

Andy Cohen is so fun to watch! Mazel on the book deal!

  • crispy

Wow, you gotta be some kind of massive loser if you’d read a memoir from a vapid, narcissistic TV exec whose sole claim to fame is unleashing the Real Housewives on America.

    • ee

      thank you crispy

  • Keith

I’m buying anything he’s selling. I love Andy.

LOL. The literary world is officially dead. I’m glad Andy has a fan or 2 but I’d rather read the TV Guide backwards than a trivial coming-out tale of this vapid, grinning twirp.

  • Wendy

Met him once in NYC. He was so nice and took time to talk to my friends and I. I will defiantly be reading this book!!! Mazel Andy :)

  • Ron

The fact that there are enough clueless, intellectually dead people out there to sustain the latest stroke in Cohen’s ongoing JO of his massive ego, well it’s kind of depressing. Rather than doing something like coming up with ONE original series that isn’t TOP CHEF or REAL HWIVES in disguise, Cohen seems to think we need MORE of him. It’s bad enough that he has been allowed (even encouraged) by Bravo to create shows starring HIM on the same network he oversees. Even worse, the longer he stays in front of the camera, the more wretched, cloying and jaw-droppingly awful he gets. I’m sure his fan base of bored, middle-age women and bitter queens will rejoice that the tool is now an author.

    • JackieB

His audience is definitely not just bitter queens and middle-aged women; I’m 23 and love WWHL. My friends (male and female) do as well.
However I will say, his one flaw seems to be allowing some of these overrun Housewives shows go on long past their prime, simplu because they may pull in decent ratings. The New York season was a travesty to American television. Those women were acting for the cameras, and it was embarassing to behold. It should be pulled. And an exec should ALSO have an artistic vision to see that maybe something different and inspired could take its place and actually shock us all (i.e. Jersey Shore, haha).
Overall though, you sound incredibly jilted – did Andy forget to call you back 10 years ago??

  • sara stricherz

Andy is not an egomaniac. He’s a great comedian and on-air personality! No matter what insane housewife he has on his show, I would watch for his hilarious facials alone.
I’m buying this book in hopes it carries his voice, which will be interesting. And to hear the stories of all his celeb encounters. :)

  • Mjay

    I have a title for Mr. Cohen….”Tool,”

  • Janice Jane

Massive Andy saturation boiling point. Enough already dude.
