TRAILER: Creepy new promo for 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children'

Very rarely does something come along this spooky.

The Quirk Books trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (on sale June 7) could just as easily serve as the teaser trailer for a film, and indeed the novel has already sold its film rights to 20th Century Fox.

See the trailer after the jump …

Author Ransom Riggs was inspired to craft this tale by various old, found photographs of children in uncanny situations — hovering slightly in the air, or standing alone by a pond with a dual reflection in the water. Read some excerpts...

It almost sounds like a superhero collective (think turn-of-the-last-century X-Men) fused with Harry Potter’ Hogwarts, only far creepier and mysterious than either. Riggs is a filmmaker and devised the trailer himself, flying to Belgium to shoot in various abandoned homes, according to the publisher. (I guess Belgium has the best haunted-looking houses?)

You can’t argue with the result. Prepare to have the hair on your arms stand up.

Take out the word “with” in the first sentence Mr. Breznican

My bad. Typo. (Hangs head in shame.)

I’m not trying to be that kind of person but, I didn’t find it that creepy. It was a cool trailer though thanks for highlighting it.

    • Whitney

Yeah, unfortunately, I have to agree. I think the preceding article talked it up a little too much. It does seem like an interesting book though.

    • Peter

I concur. Too hyped in the article. Plus, I’m just not down with video teasers for books.

NO, her nightwing run is awoemse. People just saying nightwing got raped, and telling people not to see it because of some dumb protest over that is ridiculous. In the context of the story, that is part of something. Her run is better than chuck dixon’s. She took everything he tried to do and crystallized them, meaning she did what he tried and failed to do, and corrected it and it made nightwing the best he’s ever been without taking away of anything that’s happend. So check out the tarantula arc of nightwing’s comic.

Not creepy. You want creepy, write a book based on all those old photos of corpses posed to look alive. That’d keep me up at night.

    • Laura

Oh my god I’ve looked at some of those. They are so creepy. Dead children posed with their siblings. Ugh.

It’s a little bit creepy especially for just a trailer , but i’d try The Orphanage, That’s creepy.

    • Jane

just watched that last night and it was sooo creepy

    • Mocha

I watched that movie for Spanish class and it TERRIFIED me.

A trailer for a book? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trailer for a book. But good strategy. It looks intriguing.

    • Peter

It’s done quite often. “Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter” and “Anathem” are two that come to mind immediately. I hate them.

Ok so i am new to this whole Cross fit Endurance but i am hooked. I am just hanvig a hard time transitioning to this. I am a huge runner and love long distance running and love Triathlons but its so hard to do these speed work outs and feel like that i am doing the same work as i would be doing during a long distance training. Also I am doing the WOD two to three times a week, should i be doing more or what? Just need a little guidance is all. Thanks

    • Tee

It’s done very often. Just most of them aren’t worth mentioning.

  • Arman Tamzarian

    where is professor xavier?

    • Stu

His name is Miss Peregrine in this.

  • Peter

I would suggest that it SOUNDS like X-Men, like you said. I get nothing Hogwarty from the description. That comes solely from the music in the trailer. Th ebook itself sounds good, but I tend to be turned off by overambitious marketing when it comes to books.

  • Tom

    Power Pack!

  • Christa

    Oooh looks so creepy!

  • Thea

    Brez . ..

Did you get an Advance Reader for this title?

  • Kaede

is this based on a true story?

  • xoxofrets
