HarperCollins has acquired the rights to Pete Townshend’s highly anticipated memoir Who He? The legendary guitarist and songwriter for the Who has been working on his autobiography since the mid-90′s, according to Rolling Stone, and it will finally hit shelves in Autumn 2012. The book will tell the story of his dramatic childhood, the inception of the iconic band, and the wild decades of touring and creating unforgettable music. “In the 1970′s, Pete Townshend famously asked the musical question ‘Who are you?’” said HarperCollins executive editor David Hirshey in a press release. “Now, in his autobiography, generations of fans will finally get the answer they’ve been waiting for.”

Recent!? How about the years of allegations and let’s not forget he was arrested for having images on his computer but got out of it because he claimed he was “just doing research.” I love The Who’s music but would never support anything specifically for this sicko.
For what it’s worth, he never had any images on his computer. He was arrested for having accessed a site with his credit card.

In the first place, those charges were dropped because they had no basis in fact; they never should have been brought in the first place. And in the second place, we are talking about the creative leader behind arguably the best band in rock and roll history, The Who. Turn off American Idol and the Voice and get acquainted with REAL music that will last far longer than today’s throwaway pop. Can’t wait for this book!

Sadly, Pete is a pedophile. I know that for Who fans, that doesn’t matter, just like Michael Jackson fans were okay with his predilection for little boys. But for those of us with an intact moral compass, Townsend’s “research” is no different than Gary Glitter’s. Townsend is a deviant. A once-gifted deviant, to be sure. But a deviant nonetheless.
Those calling Townshend a pedo don’t seem to know much about the incident in question. Townshend accessed one website one time that contained child porn, and said he was doing “research” to better understand his own childhood. That’s an easy excuse to poke fun at, but not really the excuse of a liar. And remember this: There were no images on Townshend’s computer and no other incidents of this nature. Do you really think a true pedo would have such a clean hard drive? That alone proves his innocence.
