Last weekend, Jane Eyre‘s umpteenth film adaptation opened to strong reviews and squeals from bookish girls (and boys) who, at some point in their lives, may have felt “poor, obscure, plain, and little.” With Wuthering Heights being released later this year, it seems that the Brontë sisters are having a moment; Jennie Yabroff of The Daily Beast takes a look at fans of Team Charlotte and Team Emily and the heated debates about which sister is the superior writer. Forrest Wickman of Slate lists other authors whose work is constantly adapted for the screen.

Nobel Prize winning and #1 bestselling author Al Gore will write an as yet untitled book on the “political, social, and economic forces that are shaping what America and the world will become in ensuing decades.” In the book, Gore will continue to write about climate change but will tackle on a “broader array of issues.” Random House is scheduled to publish the book, which follows Gore’s previous works An Inconvenient Truth and The Assault on Reason, in 2012.

Team Charlotte! For the record, also Team Anne. But never Team Emily, because I hate Wuthering Heights.

Without question, Charlotte is the better writer. Jane Eyre has a plot, is paced well, has deliciously descriptive passages and a heroine and foil to adore. Emily’s Wuthering Heights is not horrible, but it’s not in the same league. While Heathcliff may be a romantic outsider, Katherine is no match for Jane.
