The Book Loft in Columbus Ohio is very Unique with 32 different rooms in a very small space. Each room has it’s own unique atmosphere with it’s own music.

Add me to the list of those who think the exclusion of Powells makes your list a joke.

If any of you ever travel to Puerto Rico and want to explore a small gem, feel free to visit a bookstore called Bell, Book & Candle in Santurce, a suburb of San Juan. The book selection is outstanding, the staff knowledgeable and courteous, and you will want to stay around for hours.

I happen to be in London right now, and after reading this yesterday, decided to visit Daunt Books. I loved it! I can see why it’s on the list.

I’ve been to #1 and #4, as well as Powells, the Strand in NY and Tattered Cover in Denver. There’s also a really nice bookstore in Iowa City IA. Prairie Lights, I think.

I live in Paris and can’t believe they listed *yawn* overpriced, overpublicized, touristy Shakespeare & Company [which is NOT the original S & Co, by the way] and not Powell’s in Portland, the best bookstore in the WORLD.

Daunt’s in London is fabulous, Selexyz in the Netherlands and Hugendubel in Germany are chains but excellent, I love Strands in NYC, Tattered Cover bookstore in Denver, and Maple Street Bookshop in New Orleans.

Leakey’s bookstore in Inverness, Scotland is another great one. It’s a huge second-hand bookstore in an old church.
