E-books outsell hardcovers on Amazon: Which format do you prefer?

I like ebooks. I like the idea of a portable library. But I am not thrilled with drm on ebooks and find the pricing a little ridiculous at times, so I still don’t have many ebooks. Example : with the craze over True Blood, which I haven’t seen much of, I thought about picking the books up for some summer reading. Amazon had the first 8 books bundled together and it was $30 (!!) more to get them on kindle compared to paperback. I think it’s closer to $20 more now. Either way, still not paying it.
Why is there all this pressure for to make people to chose a winner between regular and e-book? They are both useful and valuable to our society for different reasons. I say, stop trying to chose one or the other, and embrace both.
I definitely prefer paper (book-books), but I have an e-book reader as well. It’s more convenient to shove one e-book reader into your carry-on than 15 REAL books – and lighter too! I reserve my book-book buying for items I plan to add to my collection. The e-book reader catches all the brain-candy I’d probably not read otherwise, but-it’s-something-to-do-in-the- plane/airport/doctor’s-office. If some of the brain-candy surprises me and I really, really, really like it, I’ll buy it in paper too.
I’ll jump on the e-book bandwagon when: I can take the reader into a bubble bath or onto a sandy beach without worrying about breaking it or electrocuting myself if I drop it; battery life is sufficient to last for 8 or more hours; and I can get used copies of the e-books for cheap (like buying books at Goodwill or from a second-hand book store). Until then, I’ll remain a late adopter of technology, and I’m still in my 20s.
