A must read : The New Yorkers by Cathleen Schine. Wonderful book. Romance, dogs, envy, jealousy, may december romance, acceptance , and New york.
There is nothing wrong with reading romance novels, and no need to be ashamed for enjoying them!
My adviser in college, and one of my favorite professors, was always very adamant about this and wrote a book about it a few years ago — “A Natural History of the Romance Novel” by Pam Regis. It’s a very good read for anyone interested in the merit of the genre.
Thanks Abby! This was a great read and I appreciate the tip on Gwyn Cready. I picked up Flirting with Forever earlier today and have not put it down since. Her style is refreshing and fun with a twist. I’m hooked.
I love romance books. When I talk about them to others I use “candy for the brain”. My favorites are Jennifer Crusie, Annette Blair, Helen Scott Taylor, and Julie Ortolon.
My happiest moments in life have been reading romance novels. I have been widowed twice by age 44, and the novels have helped me get through lonely times. It’s an escape. I don’t judge the books. I buy them to “escape” and they do just that .
Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
