Shelf Life is delighted to present the first peek at the titles — and covers — of the final two 39 Clues adventure books. Book 9: Storm Warning, by Linda Sue Park, comes out on May 25; Book 10: Into the Gauntlet, by Margaret Peterson Haddix, hits stores on August 31. (Book 8: The Emperor’s Code goes on sale tomorrow.) The multimedia series—each volume written by different children’s book author—is phenomenally popular in the 8-12 year-old set. It centers around Amy and Dan Cahill, a brother and sister who are, at their grandmother’s behest, searching the world for the 39 clues to the Cahill family’s power. Dreamworks has nabbed the movie rights to The 39 Clues; Steven Spielberg may direct.

Yippee! This is a fantastic series for tweens and adults alike (I’m 42 and my son is 9). Can’t wait for the rest of the books and the movie!!!
Does this book series share any ties with the old novel/Hitchcock thriller/current off-Broadway hit “The 39 Steps”? If not, what is the significances of the number 39 in mysteries?
It does not have to do with The 39 Steps. The importance of the number 39 is that there are 39 Clues the selected Cahills have to find… it’s also pretty catchy…
crispymini, I’m right there with you! I’m 24 and totally love these books.
When I pick them up at the bookstore, I lie and say I’m buying them for a niece!
Yahooooooooooooooooooo! I knew about book 9′s title, but not book 10′s. Thank you!!!
I thought Rick Riordan writes the final book.
I was hoping that too, but I heard he was starting a new series since Percy Jackson is done now.
that rumour is partially true. he will be writing a extra behind-the-scenes book that centres around the madrigals.
I never thought that it would be this good. When I first saw them I thought I would hate them but they are awesome! I really wanna read book 10. By the way, does anyone know what branch Margaret Peterson Haddix is in?
By the color of the cover and the title, I’m going to guess Madrigal.
I wonder if the iPhone app will come out for free eventually.
She would be in the Janus branch, because she is and author and the Janus’ are very artsy people…
