I believe the LC is. Very intelligent person than most people think. Just because she was on a reality show doesn’t make her stupid. Some people did like GG, it was a great book, and it being set in the 20′s made it all the better. Maybe you’re all mad because she got her stuff published and you can’t get yours? Her book was good, it was a TEEN novel. If you can’t say anything nice, why say it at all. It makes you look like an idiot!
Yes, Great Gatsby was a good novel and it being set in the 20s made it all the better since the novel was ABOUT the 20s culture. Nobody is denying it was a good book, what people are annoyed about is that she called a tragic novel ‘fun’ when it most definitely is not fun or meant to be fun.
She might be intelligent, but she comes off like an idiot. Reality shows are a ghost of actual entertainment since there’s nothing substantial about them. There’s no actual talent. Being on a reality show doesn’t make her stupid, the fact that she’s an idiot makes her stupid.
Her book was light and fluffy and everything you would expect from her. I’m sure her ghost writer worked very hard on it. Yes it’s a TEEN novel, but I can direct you to several TEEN novels that are every bit as amazing as adult or classic novels.
And an opinion isn’t always nice, but always better if voiced. She got ‘her’ stuff published because she happened to live in a privledged communtiy in her teens and happened to get cast in a reality show. Make no mistake, if that hadn’t happened this crap would never have been published and we’d never have had to deal with her. Unfortunately we do have to deal with her and her attempts at being an author, a designer and an actress, but it doesn’t mean that we have to like it or think that what ever she comes up with is ‘good’.
Dear EW, in particular Kate Ward,
That’s five minutes of my life that I’ll never get back. Please be serious next time.
While I agree that this interview was an embarassment for Lauren Conrad, I thought it was highly entertaining and validating. Now I don’t have to feel guilty about thinking she is a moron; I have proof. Good job, Kate Ward!
And ‘sadie’: no one is saying The Great Gatsby is a bad book. It is a great book. It is not a fun book. And yes I am mad that she got her stuff published when she is clearly undeserving, and their are far superior authors out there who do not have a “famous” name. And I don’t think she’s stupid because she was on a reality show; I think she’s stupid for calling Gatsby a fun book, and using Sparks notes to get through high school because she couldn’t use her own brain.
ahhmm just wanna ask. lauren is your book available in philippines? i really want to have it.
Her books are truely aweful. books
You should all get over yourselves. Reading and writing does not have to be taken that seriously. And surely the teachers making negative comments should be happy that young girls are queuing up for books at all. There are a lot of “serious writers” out there who are absolutely dreadful, and if some young reality show star has a fun story to tell then so what if she isn’t well read?
You don’t want to see an engineer give a demo. -) But srsloueiy, I’ve been playing around with video clips and should have some more YouTube clips in the next few weeks.
