I read this book in 9th grade, and, to be honest, I hated it. There was no pplot, it was dull, and Holden did nothing but overuse “goddamn” “sonuvabitch” “…and all” and “boy…” and complain complain complain about phonies (who he thinks is almost everyone) and keep wondering where the ducks go when the lake in central park freezes over. And everything, EVERYTHING, manages to depress him in some way, shape, or form. I understand its a classic, but I don’t see why, or how anyone could make a film adaptation that would even gross enough money to pay for the filmmaking.
michel ciera could pull it off. he would have to gain20 lbs and salt and pepper his hair.

You could film it in CGI. use Jack Black.
hahaa nice one
I think Kieran culkin would be a great choice…he was great in Igby goes down and his role has this Holden Caulfieldish effect…and Zac efron,Ryan gosling and other romcom actors come on! i’d rather there was no movie at all …pretty sure Salinger would be turning in his grave with the likes of them!…That movie would require a great director and actor for the movie to be even close to the book but since books normally are cut short a lot to fit into a movie makes me think it would be a difficult movie to make

Well, I think everything CAN be a movie… but some of them are good only in our minds :/
Hollywood might consider the book more a catalysis vehicle for Chapman killing Lennon. That is one angle. It might have to deal with the FBI who some believe used Chapman as their “Manchurian Candidate” for this assassination
Oliver Stone might pull it off, but not Speilberg I don’t think. If not for the sake of entertainment, it might at least make people THINK.
