I have been a fan since the Godwulf Manuscript in 1974 and have read every Spenser, Stone, Randall and Cole novel since. He is an author that has never failed to entertain and for any fan of the mystery genre, he will be sorely missed.

I can’t recall the title immediately, but my favorite was the Spenser novel where Spenser holes up in a mountain cabin with Hawk, Chollo, and several of the other immortal series gunslingers.
I guess now we’ll never know if Sunny and Jesse were meant to live happily ever after.

My longtime favorite author was Robert B Parker….whenever I wanted 2 read 4 fun, 4 excitement & humor I would just go 2 my bookshelf & pick out a Parker book….I collected all of them. The Spenser books were my favorites…the dialogue between Susan & Spenser was intelligent, loving & always humorous. I also enjoyed his Westerns….but “All my Yesterdays” was just 2 fabulous 4 words…anyhow my words. There will never be another author 2 compare/compete w/Robert B Parker. I am sooo happy I discovered his books & can enjoy them 4 the rest of my life.

Oh what a pity, losing Robert Parker so young! Our condolences to his family. After I read his obituary I went to our local library and actually found one of Parker’s books that I hadn’t read. “Rough Weather” (2008) is really fun and has to do with Spenser’s last encounter with his arch nemesis the Gray Man. Boy, will I miss the witty repartee between Spenser, Susan, Hawk and the other colorful characters, to say nothing of Pearl the Wonder Dog. And I’m sure I’m not the only reader who got hungry reading about the delicious meals that Spenser cooked up for his lady love. The tv series with Robert Urich was also quite good and I think I will try to track down some dvds. RIP Robert.

Early Autumn was the first Parker book I read and my favorite. It contains much of what must have been his personal philosophy. I had great respect for the man.

It saddens me so much to think that I will never read another of Robert Parker’s books. I am an avid fan and truly enjoyed each and every one. I feel like I have lost a friend

Sad news for all of us fans of Mr. Parker. I loved all his work but most of all the Spenser novels. There is such humor in his writing and I still wonder to this day, how Spenser actually made a living, considering that most of his cases were either probono, bounced cheques, etc.

Today was the first I heard of Robert B. Parker’s passing..he was one of a kind, and I will miss reading his Spenser,Sunny, and Jesse novels… the western series was just as entertaining…his sense of humor was a delight. He will be missed. Sad news indeed.

I have been reading his Spenser novels for 20 years. Catskill Eagle, Pale Kings, and Walking Shadow are among my favorites. Very sad to hear about his passing. Great writer!

I loved Robert Parker’s Spenser series first through it’s TV spinoff with Robert Urich, then after landing a job with Putnam/Berkley as a cover designer.

I am honored to have worked on the covers for 7 of Parker’s Spenser novels and loved reading every manuscript or hard cover I could get my hands on. I will miss his writing and hope that his family will take some comfort in the millions of fans who love and respect him.

“Sleep after toil, port after stormy seas, Ease after war, death after life does greatly please.”
    -Edmund Spenser

I had just gotten The professional from the library when I heard the news of Robert B. Parker’s death. It’s depressing knowing his characters died with him, and it makes me wish I had met him in person. I’m from the same area and enjoyed reading and visualizing the streets and areas he described in the books. My heart goes out to his family….

I was hooked on Parker’s books when I read the Jessie Stone series. I moved on to the Sunny Randall series. I’m currently reading the Spenser novels and I love them all. The end of Stardust took me by surprise, but I can’t really say one novel stands out from the others. I love them all.
