Candace Bushnell's 'Sex and the City' prequel

HarperCollins has revealed the cover art of The Carrie Diaries, the first of Candace Bushnell’s two prequels to Sex and the City. The novel — written for a young adult audience — is written from the perspective of Carrie Bradshaw as a teenager and goes on sale April 27, 2010.

Okay, I’m guessing the adolescent Carrie wasn’t a geek or the prom queen. But a Queen Bee? Maybe. And definitely editor of the school paper. What do you think?

I hope these books are good! I never read the original “Sex and The City” Book but as a HUGE Fan of both the television series and films I definitely plan to give this a read. If it turns out to be good, it may breathe some young life back into a series entering it’s last years!

That is almost too sad to pity.

why would a modern day teen want to read about a teen in the 80s? if anything the target audience needs to be the same age group they targeted for the show/movies.

I’m kind of excited about this, but then again, I’m in my mid-twenties, not in my teens or tweens.

Brooke you are not alone, I am a working mom of 4 in my early 40’s and i am very excited to read these with my two beautiful daughters!

The only thing that concerns me is teen sex. I love to watch Carrie with my girls but I tell them to wait until they are married!! I hope Carrie doesnt set a bad example!

As someone who is 28, read the book, owns the series, hated the movie. The Carrie in the book is a little different than how she developed on the series, and do not know how that character would translate as a teen. Am not sure, but this seems more in response to the flashback scenes from the second movie. Also, teen Carrie would be the 70s.

I’m done, through, kaput, so over with SATC. I do not give a Choo about prequels OR the new movie coming out. I’m sorry! I can’t. Don’t hate me! Enough already. Let Carrie and her posse of fashionistas RIP! I’m sure their blatant materialism will be very attractive in this troubled economy (sarcasm).

the book sucked and the tv show came to bare little resemblance to it. if she is keeping it about the carrie from her book then this new book is probably going to suck too.

I had a sausage biscuit meal from McDonald’s this morning. Tomorrow, when I take a dump and it comes back out, it will be better than these books.
