I would love to see Jonathan Stroud’s The Amulet of Samarkand be made into a film. Also a decent version of Funke’s The Thief Lord. Catherine Called Birdy by Karen Cushman would be fun as well abd I’m excited for Riordan’s The Lightning Thief hitting the big screen next year!

I would love to see “The Secret of Platform 13″ by Eva Ibbotson become a movie, also I’d love to see the Alanna books by Tamora Pierce be made in to one big movie preferably starring Sairon Raiose (the little girl from Atonenment I know I completely messed up the spelling of her name) as Alanna.

And I agree about Burton and the Oz books that would be awesome

‘The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs’ as told by A. Wolf. It could be both wonderfully campy and a little dark.

How about Blubber? Have Amy Heckerling direct (and possibly script) Keep it funny, but a learning lesson about teasing and how quick you can be on the out. The teacher could be Tina Fey/Kristen Wiig. Get Breslin to put on weight or find a plumper female actresss to play blubber. I would pay big bucks to see it made into a movie

Oh! I found a new one!

I Need My Monster, written by Amanda Noll and Howard McWilliam. It’s absolutely delightful, with just the right amount of chills and giggles, with cinema-quality illustrations. I’d love to see those monsters on the big screen!

How about The Penderwicks – Stoneheart (trilogy) and for fun the Minnie & Moo stories!

Have they ever done a movie about Amelia Bedilia?

There is a new cute chapter series titled, “Runt Farm: Under New Management,” by Amanda Lorenzo which is a cute little story about farm animals who step up to manage a farm when the farmer and his family decide to abandon the farm. So cute! Would love to see this one hit the screen.

The Twenty-One Balloons by William Pene Dubois is a shoe-in. It would be great with today’s special effects to really make all of the fantastical inventions and settings come to life.

Also – The Invention of Hugo Cabret. This book/graphic novel looks like it was written for the big screen.

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.

Nir was not born yet when Empire Strikes Back’ came out? Just how old are you Nir? Do you still get carded? I’m not much of a sci-fi jkuine, but I think the Empire movie was the best of the Star Wars’ series. It was directed by Irvin Kershner who died just recently, but he made alot of interesting and underrated films. The best movie George Lucas did in my opinion is still THX-1138 . As for movies I have seen over and over again there really isn’t any. I have seen Network’ a few times as well as the bizarre black comedy Where’s Poppa?’ and Nicolas Roeg’s stylish thriller Don’t Look Now’, but nothing in the range of Mike and his Busy Body’ viewings.
