In hopes of taking advantage of the never-ending Twilight frenzy, HarperCollins decided to design a new cover for its paperback editions of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Read the full post.

I think it’s great that the Twilight series is encouraging kids to read. Hopefully they’ll like Wuthering Heights and move onto reading more literature. However, Wuthering Heights can be a bit confusing to young teens who are only using their “reading muscles” on easy reads like Twilight (don’t get me wrong, I love Twilight.)

Unfortunately I have to admit that Harper Collins is absolutely right to publish Wuthering Heights in this fashion. I’m a third year student of English and have just finished my thesis in which I compared The Twilight Saga to Wuthering Heights in detail. It seems to be the fact that Stephenie Meyer has taken Brontë’s novel and reworked this hate story (as she calls it herself) into a love story.

Im currently reading this exact wuthering heights novel. Im 14, and granted i love twilight, however wuthering heights is a completely different level of writing – not to flaw meyers achievement. I dont think it should have been rebranded, on the other hand many of my non classics friends now have the desire to read it, (cos of twilight: the sticker)

When I saw this at the local bookstore, I almost screamed. I’m only a teenager myself (17) But I’ve never been into the Twilight Saga. My mother turned me on to the book when I was 15. I Don’t like the branding. I think if Emily Bronte could speak for herself, she wouldn’t like it either. I do think it will get young readers to try to read it, but since the population of twilight fans are young teens 12-14 or so, I don’t think they’ll understand it fully and find it boring. Then spout to their friends that it was a horrible book turning them off from reading it. I personally LOVE this book and would recommended it to anyone but I don’t agree with this. It’s practically plagiarism!
